This page shows work I was commissioned to produce for historical guides of Sussex and a series of work I did for the Arundel Gallery Trail, entitled 'Shops of Arundel'.
The ‘Shops of Arundel’ series is an ongoing project which illustrates buildings that represent a place and are considered part of its visual description, and as a result becomes a collective representation of a community. Together these buildings form a skyline for a place, and as a result an insight into the people who live there.
The project began when I was commissioned to illustrate for an A-Z History of Sussex, which included Chichester Cathedral and The Cross, Shoreham Airport and Lancing College Chapel. I wanted to make connections between these buildings which are marked out as representing a place, and from this the idea of creating ‘skylines’ emerged.
